E-book Step #1

In my previous post, I mentioned about creating and publishing my own e-book. As well as taking you along the trip. Well, all a board! I guess that’s more train related…you get the idea. So obviously before the actual process of creating your e-book, would be to figure out your niche, your subject, on what the book is all about. After figuring that out, then finally start the outlining. So for those that read my post before this one knows I am creating and publishing an e book on special cakes. In this type of e book, my preference would to have pictures of each step by step.

For my first step, I am sketching the cake designs I want to present in my book. Currently, I am still drawing my cake designs. Anyways, in my preference, start drawing out what you would like to be in you book. Like for instance, if it’s a finance book, then what parts of finance you want to write about. In a finance book, there could be family budgeting, taxes, business accounting, regular accounting, how to get rid of debt, etc. You need to figure out exactly what will be involved in your book.

Before you say or think anything, I know I know. Most beautiful face to be drawn you ever seen. Not! On paper, I am a terrible drawer. As you can tell by my “lovely” eye. Fortunately, I understand my sketchings. That’s not how I normally write by the way but those are just quick notes. I am sketching the designs I want to make and involve in my book. Next to each sketch, I am writing down quick little notes of certain pieces, what it will be made of, what to cover it with, and special effects I want to involve.

That’s it for now. I will be working hard on my first step. So continue to follow along with me on my journey of creating publishing my very own e-book. Thanks for reading.

Until next time Lovelies!!

AT THAT TIME OF THE YEAR…Blogmas #1!

Cold breeze touching the tip of your nose, all wrapped up like a pig-in-a-blanket, sipping hot cocoa by the fireplace, trying to catch those sneaky snowflakes on your tongue, shoved while shopping, etc, ETC. The list goes on but the one thing that nearly everyone does, is making NEW YEAR RESOLUTIONS. Oh how…cliche. But everyone has their moments. Like me! Yes, that’s right. I, as in myself and me, am making that cliche. But that cliche is more a timeline for me. Not saying that I haven’t started it now. But I would like to reach my goals by the end of the next new year, 2017!  What, as you ask, are my New Years resolutions? Well….here’s my list *yes, a list, not one but multiple*.

      20161203_203441

Alright, so let’s get my most cliche resolution out of the way. I want to lose weight. Sooo unique Yolanda! I know it’s not a bad one but I hear it all the time from people and their resolutions. And I am part of the cliche group, ain’t no shame here though. I am not saying that I am completely unhappy with my physique. I got the rack and the booty. *insert winking emoji*. But in all seriousness, I do want to lose some poundage. I like to play sports and do adventurous activities. I can do pretty good in those but the weight and bad knee (from a incident when I was few years younger) do make some stuff more difficult than they need to be. So this is what I will be doing. I will make posts of how I am losing the weight, that way, maybe it might help you. Also to keep me on track. Well, technically, I want to lose inches. Pounds tend to look different on everyone. My goal to lose 10 inches overall. Keeping it realistic!

Next resolution! Plan, write, and publish my very own traditional hard book and e-book. It will be a step by step baking creations. I love to bake and create unique, crazy sculptures. So I decided to help others learn how to make special cakes without paying a hefty price to get it. Obviously you would need to get the ingredients, that’s a given. There will be a segment where its for kids to do, with very minimal parent assistance like putting it in the oven or melting. Then there is the other part. Cake sculpting! Specialty cakes! Cake Dazzling!! Okay I’m done. Anyways, there will be simple cakes, cake buildings, cake characters and so much more. Princesses, castles, buttercream, lights, OH MY! Yes you read that right, lights. I will even show to add lights to cakes and even show one to two cakes with special effects, like movable parts. I will even show alternatives to certain parts of a cake. Still finishing the outline but getting close. I’ll even write posts during the process. To assist others who are thinking about making their own hard copy and e-book.

20161203_203448

THIRD! Open my own online boutique. I have always wanted to have my own online store. My bigger dream for it is actually to open a store front for it. I like clothes and finding looks I see on celebrities but more budget friendly. I will start out with only women clothes. Then probably add accessories and shoes. Maybe I will even sell kids and men clothes down the line. I think this would be so much fun. I have already chosen not to do dropshipping. I would prefer to carry inventory. Because of this decision, I would start out small then slowly raise up. Just like the other resolutions, I will post about the process. I would like to help people who want to achieve the same resolutions. I want them to know how I am achieving it and avoid making the same mistakes I will probably make. Oh, who am I kidding?! I WILL make mistakes. Now all I got to do is choose the style. Or maybe even go with a little of everything. Probably will go with that. I do like a bit of all styles.

By the way, technically I do not know how this Blogmas works. I know I started late, that’s for sure. I’m not sure of the topics these posts suppose to be but if I am doing it wrong, then….Blogmas, Yolanda style. I really do hope I am doing alright for my first blogmas post. Hopefully I’m doing good. Am I suppose to write a post everyday or what? Or just write posts that are related to the holidays? I think I need to research more. Yup, definitely. By the way, I meant when I wrote that I have already started to work on my resolutions. As I am typing this post, I am working on my cake book.

LAST BUT NOT LEAST! Starting a Youtube channel with my guy and myself. Alright so knowing myself, this is probably not my last resolution. But I do got to limit myself. I really do got a LOT of ideas. You could ask my mother and all of my siblings. I kind of can get out of hand with ideas. But they love me, craziness and all. Plus I am their entertainment. Anyways, back to the youtube idea. My guy and I thought this would be so much fun. We were thinking about doing diys, cooking challenges against each other, testing weird products, trying out unique food and flavors, all kinds of stuff. We are going over what we need to start off with. Also, we decided for our first video to be pancake art. That will be fun. I am better at cooking but he is better at drawing. So it will be interesting to see who will do better. I always wondered if those pancake arts were more for show than to eat. Alright, they are for show but I want to know if they taste good as well. I will link our youtube channel(once it’s created) to my blog for those of you who would be interested and want to see me make a fool of myself. I know I do!

By the way, I do have a surprise for you all and will write the process of dealing with it in the future. Once it becomes official. I will give a hint: the sound rattle, rattle. I hope this post was good for you. I wanted this post to also show that you don’t have to wait until the new year begins to start on your resolutions. And that it is not so crazy to have more than one resolutions. Thanks for reading! Until next time lovelies!!

Baking Time! Mmm, Bananas!

So you all know beauty is my love. But I will admit baking is just as close to my heart as well. I hope everyone’s week started off great! Mine started great! You ever wake up from your dream, that you probably can’t even remember anymore by the way, and feel a strong determination throughout your body and soul? That has been me for the past week. I feel like good things will come. I’m literally excited about a certain piece of news, I am about to burst, guts of happiness all over the floor….I can’t tell if that was disturbing or not…I think so, let me know. Anyways, on to the yummy part of this post.

I worked hard and try to perfect my recipe. Creating my own recipe was a pain. Well, okay, so it’s easy, you basically take the base recipe, mess around with measurements, and then add your own special spin in it. The only pain about it is finding the right texture that you, your friends, and family like. Now, time to create yumminess!!! Hope you like it. I promise it is real easy. Here is my recipe:

1 3/4 cups     All-purpose flour

1 teaspoon    Baking powder

1/8 teaspoon Baking soda

1/4 teaspoon Salt

1 cups           Sugar

1/2 teaspoon Vanilla Extract

1/2 cup          Butter, unsalted

2                    Large eggs

1/4 cup          Buttermilk

                 Whole Bananas, ripe

1 cup             Blueberries

Directions:

Pre-heat oven at 350

Flour a loaf pan

Make sure the eggs, buttermilk is at room temperature and the butter is softened at room temperature.

  1. In a large bowl, add the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt. Stir to combine.
  2. In a mixer bowl, add the butter and sugar. Mix until smooth.
  3. Add eggs, one at a time. Make sure it is incorporated.
  4. Mix the vanilla extract in the buttermilk.
  5. Add the flour and buttermilk in 3 additions. Switching off, ending with buttermilk.
  6. Stir in the blueberries by hand, careful not to squish them.
  7. Pour the mixture into the loaf pan.
  8. Bake for 35-45 mins. Depends on your oven.
  9. Check with a toothpick and see if it comes out clean.
  10. Let it cool.

Serving suggestion: cut yourself a slice then put a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top. So good!

Well, I hope this comes out to your tasting.Enjoy the goodness! Thanks again for stopping by and reading my blog. Until next time Lovelies!

Time for food!

Not only do I like makeup but I like food as well. I mean, who doesn’t? But lately I have been feeling not so well. So I decided to be healthier and eat better. I do exercise already. My eating habits were the bad part that made it difficult for me to lose the weight. But I got to be honest, it is a lot easier if I had support. It is not easy eating better when you’re surrounded by people who aren’t exactly on board with you. I live with other family members along with my fiance and daughter. So I technically cook for two other people. At this moment, my fiance makes more money than so he pays for the groceries. It’s hard to do the shopping when he’s not so…umm…on the same train as I am. It’s hard to cook two different meals at a time. I actually dislike it very much. It takes more of my time away from my family. I hate that.

So I decided to play around with recipes of certain dishes. So far I got a few recipes that they like. Which makes cooking time so much easier. So this post is going to be that. A recipe I made. It’s re-creation of lasagna. Before I give my recipe, I want to mention you can layer either with lasagna pasta or long slices of zucchini.

Vegetable Lasagna

Ingredients:

  • lasagna pasta (1 box)
  • zucchini (2)
  • eggplant (1)
  • celery (3 stalks)
  • mushrooms (10)
  • ricotta cheese (4 cups)
  • Prego sauce (1 jar)
  • spinach (2 cups)
  • shredded mozzarella cheese (1-1/2 cup)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 450 degrees
  2. Spray the baking pan or spread a little of olive oil.
  3. Cook the pasta until it becomes al dente.
  4. While pasta is cooking, starting slicing the eggplant and zucchini.
  5. Start chopping the rest of the vegetables.
  6. Drain the pasta
  7. Cover the bottom of the baking pan with the first layer of pasta (or zucchini)
  8. Next, layer the other ingredients like this, or however you like, eggplant, zucchini *if you don’t use it instead of the pasta*, ricotta cheese, mushrooms, tomato sauce, spinach, then pasta, veggies again.
  9. Once you finish layering, finishing by topping it with one last layer of pasta then sauce. Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese.
  10. Place it in the oven and bake for 45-60 mins.

The cheese will brown but you don’t want the cheese to cook too much, then cover with tin foil, with the foil bent a little.

I really do hope you enjoy this recipe. I mean if my fiance likes this vegetarian lasagna, then there’s a high chance a lot of you will like it. Leave a comment if you tried this and let me know how it came out for you. Thanks again for stopping by and reading my blog. Until next time Lovelies!

Makeup brush set and food review!

I got some yummies from both makeup and food. First off, I’ll review the brush set I got while I eat away from the food department. So I bought the brush set from Target for $34.99. They are the Sonia Kashuk limited edition “all that jazz” 10 piece brush set. First off, love 💖 LOVE 😍 the design of the brushes. The black handles caged with gold ribbed details. With cream/ivory bristles. It has a powder brush, flat-top blusher brush, angled dou-fiber face brush, foundation brush, eye shadow brush, blending brush, crease brush, angled dou-fiber eye brush, precision eye brush, and lash/brow groomer. The classic color theme is lovely, gold and black. The hair’s are so soft yet firm at the same time. I can’t stop feeling the brushes. Weird alert! Lol. Anyways, back to it. They are light. Then again, I’ve never been disappointed from Sonia Kashuk. I also love the fact that its 100% cruelly free.

If you are curious and from what I read brush’s hairs go like this; Powder Brush is goat hair, Flat Top blusher/multipurpose Brush is goat hair, angled duo-fiber brush is goat and nylon mix, foundation brush nylon, eye shadow brush is goat hair, blending brush is goat hair, crease brush is pony and synthetic mix, angled dou-fiber eye brush is synthetic mix and precision brush and lash/brow groomer is nylon hair. But like I always do because I like to know my money’s worth 💵, I will test these brushes and review them for you. So far, I’m loving them.

Next review is on black bean chips. I got it from Target for $1.48, which was clearance, but they are normally $2.99. They are called Beanitos. With sea salt. They have high fiber, 4g complete protein, and gluten. The ingredients are six things! Whole black beans, whole long grain rice, pure sunflower and/or safflower oil, guar bean gum, and sea salt. Be warned though. It is made in a factory that may also use soy, dairy, seeds, wheat, corn, and tree nuts. They are so good. And well, healthy! They taste like regular chips. It tastes good with hummus, salsa, guacamole, and may I say, mango salsa. Maybe I’ll post my recipe for that. Anyways, these are definitely a must try! Love them! Until next time lovelies!💋
